Robert (Bob) is the Deputy Technical Director of Cyber Security Foundations (CSF) in CERT. In this role, Bob provides support to define the strategy for developing and using new and foundational technologies for cybersecurity qualities and capabilities, as well as for securing new technologies over their lifecycles. Bob also helps develop an environment that enables efficient and effective execution of the strategy and deliver valuable knowledge, technology, and solutions for our National Security and related government mission partners.

Bob has more than 25 years' experience in the fields of information technology, software engineering, and software development education. Prior to this leadership position, Bob was the Technical Manager of Secure Coding, and before that the Technical Manager of Science of Cyber Security, both within CSF. Prior to joining CSF, Bob was the Technical Advisor to the Director of the SEI. Before that position, Bob held positions in the Transition Strategy and Partner Network groups at the SEI. Most of his work at the SEI has been related to software process improvement, software quality, and security.

Before joining the SEI, he was a senior systems administrator for iCarnegie, an online-education spinoff from Carnegie Mellon University.

Bob holds an MBA and a BS in electrical and computer engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
