Peter Capell

Peter Capell is an SEI alumni employee.

Peter Capell is a senior member of the technical staff at the SEI, working in the Software Solutions Division.

In his 33-year affiliation with the SEI, Capell has served in diverse capacities for Department of Defense programs. He has provided analysis and insights for teams across the Air Force, Navy, Marines, and Army. In his early years, Capell worked on the Global Positioning System (GPS), the Transformational Satellite Program, and the GPS ground station software development efforts. Principle tasking has included monitoring test procedures, analyzing flight software code, and integration testing.

While employed at the Carnegie Mellon Research Institute, Capell developed database-accessible online training for the National Guard. At MountainTop Technology, Inc., he was director of instructional development and programming, supervising design and coding for Army National Guard and other government customers. A high point in this role was publishing computer-based deployment training into the Reimer Library at Fort Huachuca.

Capell is the author of more than 12 publications on topics related to software process improvement and the field of intelligent tutoring systems. He is an adjunct professor in the Carnegie Mellon University Computer Science Department and holds an MA in Instruction and Learning and a PhD in Artificial Intelligence and Learning from the University of Pittsburgh.
