Abstract
Effective use of MBSE begins with a clear understanding of what models represent, how they are constructed and used, and how they deliver value within an organization. The Software Engineering Institute (SEI) offers a series of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) strategy workshops to assist an organization transitioning to a model-based systems engineering system development approach. This workshop series applies methods from SEI’s MBSynergy research project to construct scenarios that characterize activities for modeling as they support acquisition and engineering lifecycles. By elaborating the scenarios, the organization creates a rationale for modeling, an initial understanding of the use of those models across the system development lifecycle.
