Abstract

Engineering of complex systems using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Digital Engineering (DE) requires more than state-of-the-art tooling. It requires a clear understanding of the engineering activities to be executed, their sequencing, and the skills and tools used. Furthermore, as models and digital assets provide a glimpse of the capability to be delivered, it is important to define metrics to assess their quality. This paper proposes an approach that leverages Ontologies and Enterprise Architecture to define and analyze MBSE and DE processes. This approach builds on a UAF profile and library that defines concepts for modeling MBSE processes. This profile can be used by Enterprise Architect to model their processes and connect them to an existing reference architecture. This profile can also be used as a support during workshops to assist programs.
