CERT Leadership in AI for Cybersecurity Professional Certificate
Over the past decade, artificial intelligence (AI) has made remarkable strides. From deep neural networks (DNNs) that can identify and label objects in images, to AI systems that outperform humans in complex games like chess, to the emergence of large language models like ChatGPT that can respond to a wide range of queries, we have entered a new era of AI. These AI advancements are transforming many fields, including cybersecurity. AI technologies can enhance existing cybersecurity processes and enable entirely new approaches. AI capabilities are now an essential part of the toolkit that technical professionals and cybersecurity leaders can use to match the speed and scale of today’s adversaries.
Benefits of the CERT Leadership in AI for Cybersecurity Professional Certificate
This professional certificate program introduces technical professionals and cybersecurity leaders to applying AI to cybersecurity challenges. SEI cybersecurity experts instruct students about the strengths, limitations, and appropriate use cases for AI technology in cybersecurity and how AI tools should be selected and realistically applied. The curriculum concludes with a capstone, instructor-led workshop on the learned material.
After completing the certificate program, students may choose to be listed on the SEI website as an SEI Certificate Holder.
Term and Renewal
The CERT Leadership in AI for Cybersecurity Professional Certificate Program does not expire.

Fundamentals of Statistics Applied to Cybersecurity
Through the fundamentals of statistics related to cybersecurity, aspiring data scientists can:
- Gain knowledge of common problems that a data scientist encounters
- Become fluent in statistics with the help of a scripting language
- Increase predictive power and reduce risk within a model
- Better estimate parameters for a dataset
- Investigate and solve problems in the cybersecurity realm
Please note that successful completion of this course is a required component of the CERT Applied Data Science for Cybersecurity Professional Certificate. To learn more about the Professional Certificate and discounted package pricing, please go to: SEI Certificates.
Effective Communication of Technical Concepts - eLearning
The Effective Communication of Technical Concepts eLearning is a 10-hour course teaching approaches for communicating technical data analysis results to non-technical stakeholders. Clear, persuasive, and actionable communication to decision makers, in particular, is critical for any data analysis to generate value. We focus on data visualization and writing, including beginner-friendly hands-on coding exercises, as well as a case study lecture in cybersecurity.
CERT Leadership in AI for Cybersecurity Application Workshop
The Leadership in AI for Cybersecurity Workshop is the capstone course for the CERT Leadership in AI for Cybersecurity Professional Certificate Program. Throughout the program, students gain skills and knowledge in AI fundamentals; this workshop serves as an opportunity to both exercise these skills and demonstrate proficiency in the course subject matter.
This two-day immersive, instructor-led workshop guides participants through an end-to-end AI project using a cybersecurity dataset pertaining to vulnerabilities found in JavaScript source code functions on public GitHub repositories. The dataset contains approximately 12,000 records, each representing a source code function with a label that indicates whether it contains a security vulnerability and code metrics that were obtained from static analysis tools.
Students will build an end-to-end AI solution using Python, consider how the solution might be deployed to realize value for their organization, and present their work to the class for feedback. Students will work both individually and in small teams on a capstone project, mirroring the types of AI-enabled cybersecurity problems encountered in real-world environments.
