Divisions

The SEI has three technical divisions. Each has a specific concentration, but work often spans divisions and teams.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Division

The SEI AI Division addresses the need for leap-ahead AI capabilities that are reliable, responsible, safe, fair, and transparent. As part of Carnegie Mellon University, a world leader in AI, we are building on our continuing legacy as world experts in cultivating a discipline of software engineering and pioneers in cybersecurity to help our customers acquire, build, and deliver AI systems that address mission needs.

CERT Division

The CERT Division is a leader in cybersecurity and partners with government, industry, law enforcement, and academia to improve the security and resilience of computer systems and networks. CERT experts develop advanced methods and technologies to counter large-scale, sophisticated cyber threats, working closely with the Department of Homeland Security to set research goals in areas such as data collection and mining, statistics and trend analysis, computer and network security, incident management, insider threats, and software assurance.

Software Solutions Division

The Software Solutions Division (SSD) works with government, industry, and academia to address the challenges presented when software-reliant systems must deliver critical capabilities without compromising quality or reliability. SSD experts use an interdisciplinary approach to improve lifecycle engineering technologies and assure complex systems. We also provide support to individual programs to help them meet their capability goals, from acquisition through sustainment.
