PSP Academic Material

Use of the PSP for Engineers course material provided on this site is provided for academic purposes, as described in the permission below. Except for corrective maintenance, the publicly available course materials for PSP for Engineers provided here will not be updated by the SEI. Students who receive PSP training, based on the use of these publicly available materials, are not recognized as having completed the SEI PSP for Engineers course. However, unmodified use of the PSP for Engineers materials provided here will prepare students to sit for the SEI's upcoming PSP certification exam.

As part of publishing the new PSP book, the SEI agreed to make CMU-copyrighted PSP materials publicly available to two groups of people: PSP students/users and academic instructors. There are two different versions of the course available, each containing materials specific to a student/user's needs or the needs of an academic instructor.

The academic instructors download provides access to

  • student workbook
  • PSP scripts, forms, instructions, and standards
  • assignment workbooks (eight programs and five reports)
  • lectures
  • instructor's guide
  • instructor spreadsheets

Conditions of Use—Academic Instructor Downloaded Material

The materials can be altered and used in any way, as long as the materials are being used for "academic purposes." Academic purpose is defined as live delivery from a campus location to students enrolled in a degree program. For all other usage, you must obtain permission from the SEI.

Materials used without modification will prepare students to sit for the SEI's upcoming PSP certification exam. Materials that are modified will have to satisfy the PSP Body of Knowledge (in press) to ensure that students are adequately prepared for the certification exam.

Maintenance of Publicly Available PSP Materials

Publicly available PSP materials will receive corrective maintenance only. That is, only typos, errors, and items that prevent the correct operations of the materials will be addressed.
