28 June - 1 July, 2010 | Porto, Portugal
Warm, beautiful, and historic Porto, Portugal promises to be an inspiring venue for an exciting, quality experience unlike any previous SEPG Europe conference.
Situated on the Douro River in northern Portugal, Porto has
magnificent architecture, a rich history, myriad cultural activities and
attractions, and a Mediterranean climate. Its historic centre is a UNESCO
designated World Heritage Site. Porto is internationally known for the Port wine
produced in the area. Learn more about Porto.
Our collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto marks the first time SEPG Europe will be held at an educational venue. The SEI will be working closely with representatives from the Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto to plan a quality conference that appeals to all experience levels of process professionals and sizes of process organizations, as well as to integrate memorable social events into the conference.

SEPG Europe attendees can use Porto's Metro system to get to the conference site. SEPG Europe 2010 registered attendees will receive one three-day Metro pass in their registration bag to be picked up at the conference. Those who wish to purchase additional days of Metro transportation may buy the next level available, a monthly Metro pass. Click here to learn how to get to to the University of Porto by Metro.
SEPG Europe attendees can take a break from the conference action to soak up the beauty of Porto. The fun begins on Tuesday evening, when SEPG attendees can come together over light hors d'oeuvres, beer and wine in a welcoming outdoor tent space.
On Wednesday, experience first-hand why Porto is dubbed “The City of Bridges” by embarking upon a evening of fun that includes a scenic bridge cruise, wine cellar tour and dinner. Participation in this social event is included for all whose SEPG registration includes Wednesday. Attendees are welcome to participate in the entire evening’s activities, or they may join or leave the group as desired. Transportation will be provided throughout the evening, with a pick-up at FEUP and drop-off at Porto City Centre.
The evening starts with a Six Bridge River Cruise that offers unbeatable views of the city. Come aboard a wooden boat that is a replica of the flat-bottomed boats that used to transport Port in earlier times. The 50-minute tour gives an up-close view of the six bridges that connect Porto with Vila Nova de Gaia, where the Port warehouses are located. Grab an outside seat for the best views!
After the cruise concludes in Vila Nova de Gaia, step onto dry land and accompany fellow attendees on a visit to one of the oldest wine cellars in Porto. Taylor’s Wine Cellars is more than 300 years old and is still owned by the family of the original partners. Learn more about the rich history of the region with a guided wine cellar tour that explains the fascinating history of Port wine. Visit Taylor’s Wine Cellar blog to get a taste of what’s to come.
Finally, enjoy dinner and drinks on Taylor’s Wine Cellar grounds as a perfect – and delicious – end to an action-packed day. The evening concludes with transportation to Porto City Centre.
